Accurate sprayer calibration is fundamental to effective pest and disease management. An incorrectly calibrated sprayer can under-dose (poor control) or over-dose (crop damage, increased cost, environmental impact). Calibration should be done at the start of each season and whenever nozzles, pressure, or tractor speed are changed.
Formula: Application Volume (L/ha) = (Nozzle output (L/min) × 600) / (Nozzle spacing (m) × Speed (km/h))
Example:
To increase L/ha: slow down, or increase pressure, or use a higher-output nozzle To decrease L/ha: speed up, or reduce pressure, or use a lower-output nozzle
Formula: Product amount per tank = (Tank capacity × Label rate) / Application volume (L/ha)
